The XL6009 DC-DC Adjustable Boost Converter Module is a compact step-up voltage regulator that allows you to convert a lower DC input voltage into a higher adjustable output voltage. Based around the XL6009 switching regulator IC, it provides an efficient way of generating higher voltages for projects, test equipment and other electronic applications.
The module features an onboard digital voltage display, allowing the output voltage to be monitored conveniently. An adjustable trimmer potentiometer makes it easy to set the required output voltage, while screw terminals provide straightforward input and output connections.
Key Features
- Adjustable output voltage: Approximately 5V to 35V DC, continuously adjustable using the onboard potentiometer.
- Wide input range: Accepts DC input voltages from 3V to 32V (5V–32V recommended).
- Digital voltage display: Built-in 3-digit LED display shows either the input or output voltage.
- Display selection: A tactile pushbutton switches the display between input and output voltage readings.
- High efficiency: Switching regulator design offers conversion efficiency of up to 94%, depending on operating conditions.
- Maximum switching current: 4A.
- High-frequency operation: 400kHz switching frequency provides efficient voltage conversion with relatively low output ripple.
- Convenient connections: Screw terminals provide easy connection of input power and output load.
- Compact design: Four mounting holes allow straightforward installation into equipment and project enclosures.
- Dimensions: 65mm x 40mm
Typical Applications
- Increasing the voltage from battery supplies.
- Powering 12V equipment from lower-voltage DC sources.
- Generating higher supply voltages for electronic projects.
- Providing adjustable DC supplies for hobby electronics and prototyping.
- Portable equipment and battery-powered applications.
NOTE
The 4A specification refers to the regulator's maximum switching current, not a guaranteed 4A output. Actual output current depends on the input voltage, output voltage and cooling. Around 15W is a sensible maximum design figure for natural cooling, subject to operating conditions.
